Hi, I’m Paul McLennan-Kissel (BA (Hons), MMus) – drum teacher in Dunedin, New Zealand. I drum. I teach drummers to drum. I teach people of all ages to find rhythm and I help them to apply their learning to the music they love.
When I drum I’m sensitive to the music and I look for the moments that need embellishment, restraint, space or intensity.
I’ve been drumming professionally in a wide variety of groups since the early 2000’s and I’m fluent in styles across much of the musical spectrum.
I teach rhythm reading from a diverse collection of classic and rare resources, as well as the Trinity College Rock and Pop syllabus.
I bring this breadth of experience into every lesson I give, and I’m proud to be an in demand drum teacher in Dunedin.
I also teach playing by ear, and I put a particular emphasis on technique and musicality .
I offer drum lessons in Dunedin at my home studio in Pinehill, as well as online lessons to anyone, anywhere in the world. Get in touch here.
